Chris Mattoon
Chris Mattoon is in demand both locally and regionally as a drummer and percussionist. A student of R&B legend Bernard “Pretty”
Purdie and former Boston Symphony Orchestra member W. Lee Vinson, Chris has a diverse educational background. He has
performed with the Schenectady Symphony Orchestra, Barry Goudreau and Matt Beck, Donna McKechnie, Chip Zien and other
great Broadway artists, Shakespear and Company, The Berkshire Theater Company, Tony Lee Thomas, Jack Waldheim, Mary Verdi, A Sign Before, No One's
Kind, and many more. As a published author, articles by Chris have been featured on the Vic Firth Educational
Team’s website and regularly appear in Drumhead and Drum! Magazines. He is also the co-director and head of the percussion department at the
annual Young Musicians Workshop’s Rock On! Band Camp. Chris is fluent in many playing styles, can sight read and write proper
score, and has experience with many groups from symphonies to small club bands.
